Policies and Practices

COVID-19

In light of the coronavirus pandemic, I am taking extra precautions to ensure that my clients remain safe during their massage sessions.

The precautions are in alignment with guidance and best practices for massage therapists in non-healthcare settings recommended by the Centers for Disease and Control and Prevention (CDC), the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA), Boulder County Public Health (BCPH), and the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (FSMTB).

Safety protocols that I have implemented include:

  • Pre-session screenings (temperature check and screening questionnaire)
  • Stringent disinfecting procedures for all contact surfaces and tools
  • Continuous air purification in the massage treatment room
  • Detailed logging of client sessions to enable contact tracing.

I continue to monitor the evolution of the novel coronavirus COVID-19 and adjust my safety protocols accordingly.

Scope of Practice

My scope of practice is limited to therapeutic massage and bodywork. I am not qualified to diagnose or treat medical or psychological conditions. If your needs are outside the scope of my practice, I may refer you to specialized healthcare and alternative care practitioners.

Confidentiality

Health and personal information that you share with me is kept confidential. Unless subpoenaed by a court, I will not release your health information to a third party without your written consent.

Sexual Appropriateness

Sexual behavior by a massage therapist toward a client or by a client toward a massage therapist is unethical and inappropriate. I have a zero-tolerance policy for sexual misconduct.

Cancellations and Lateness

Unexpected things happen at the last minute. Our schedules change. We get delayed. We get sick. Weather turns foul.

I understand that you may run late. Please understand that my schedule, like yours, is tight. If you are more than a few minutes late, I may have to reduce the length of your session by the amount of time you are late.

I also understand that you may need to cancel a session. Please understand that my time, like yours, is valuable. If you must cancel a session, please give me at least a 24-hour notice so I may schedule another client in your place. If you cancel the same day and I don’t have time to fill your place, I may request that you pay 50% of the standard fee for your cancelled session.

To be equitable, if I must cancel a session and do not give you at least a 24-hour notice, I will give you a 50% discount on the standard fee for your rescheduled session.

Gift Certificates

Gift certificates are honored for six months after their date of purchase. After six months, I consider them expired.
